Long & Crooked Lakes Association Board of Directors Meeting Minutes

March 5, 2019

 

Present:  Randy Thole, Irene Wilcox, Jim Sorenson, Dan Torgersen, Dave Weeres, Tara Zieglmeier

 

Absent:  Ken Bachofer

 

 

1.      The meeting was called to order by Randy at 6:35 pm

2.      New Board Members, Irene Wilcox and Jim Sorenson, were welcomed.

3.      The October 19, 2018 Meeting Minutes were accepted.

4.      The Treasurer’s Report showed a balance of $4,603.50

a.      Go-Daddy has increased their rates.  The URL cost is $20.00/year, E-mail is $2.95/year and web hosting is $204.00/year.

b.      A motion was made, seconded and approved to continue with Go-Daddy for the next year.

c.      Investigation into other companies for URL, email and hosting may be undertaken prior to the 2020-2021 billing period.

d.      Tara will have Go-Daddy bill LCLA’s checking account via ACH.  Dan will send Tara the checking account information.

5.      Old Business

a.      Revision of By-laws was accepted and is posted on the Website.

b.      DRAFT of 2018 Annual Meeting Minutes is posted on the Website.  Board members were asked to review and send to Torgersen any revisions.  The Annual Meeting Minutes will be accepted at the 2019 Annual Meeting

c.      2018 Treasurer’s Report is posted on the Website

d.      No-Wake Ordinance update – Dan

                                                    i.     The Stearns County Commissioners will hold a Public Hearing at 9:00 am on March 12, 2019 at the County Board Room, Stearns County Administration Center in downtown St. Cloud. , March 12th.  The following day it will be sent to the DNR for their review. 

                                                   ii.     Torgersen, Anne Ackerman and Kris Miller will attend the hearing.  Dave Weeres may also attend.

                                                  iii.     When the no-wake ordinance is approved, it will be published on the website and neighborhood network.

                                                  iv.     The lake level at which the no-wake advisory goes into effect will also be published.  At the 2015 Annual Meeting the membership approved that the no-wake advisory be posted when the lake level is 10” or more above the Ordinary High Water Level (OHW).  It will stay up until the lake level falls to 6” or less above the OHW. 

e.      Muskrat and Beaver trapping.

                                                    i.     MSP to retain Justin Westrup to trap muskrat and beaver this year.

                                                   ii.     Randy will contact Justin to find what his rates are.  In 2018 his rates were $5.00 per muskrat and $40 per beaver.  The beaver trapping rates were much lower than he charged Lynden Township ($80/beaver).  The rates will be an agenda item at the next BOD Meeting.

                                                  iii.     Randy will also ask new property owner if he will allow use of his property to access the Long Lake outlet.

f.       Group Training for AIS Inspection

                                                    i.     Jim Sorenson will contact Bob Payne to identify the person to contact to conduct the DNR training session.

                                                   ii.     Jim will ask for training to be held at the Legion on May 4 or 18, 8 hours, 20 person minimum.

                                                  iii.     When the date is set, Randy will contact the Legion to reserve space.

6.      New Business

a.      Spring Newsletter

                                                    i.     The letter will be issued about 2 weeks prior to the Annual Meeting.

                                                   ii.     Board members are asked to generate ideas for the Newsletter which will be brought up at the next LCLA Board Meeting.

b.      LCLA Annual Meeting Date

                                                    i.     At the 2018 Annual Meeting a preference for a pot-luck on Koenigs beach in June was expressed.

                                                   ii.     Possible dates are June 2, 23, 30 (all Sundays).  Determination of the date tabled until next BOD Meeting.

c.      Next meeting will be in April.

7.      The meeting was adjourned at 7:56 pm.
