Long and Crooked Lakes Association Meeting -  April 18, 2023

Meeting called to order at 6:00pm by President Irene Wilcox.

In attendance:

·         Irene Wilcox – President

·         Tim Melrose – Secretary/Treasurer

·         Kris Miller – Webmaster

·         Randy Thole – Past President

·         Jim Sorenson – Environmental Director

 

1)      Discussion was on several topics; many will be discussed at the forthcoming annual meeting

o        Annual LCLA meeting is set for May 21, 2023 at 2:00pm at the Clearwater Legion; discussion was held on other site considerations but an indoor facility considered best option given uncertainty of spring weather

§         Irene has drafted an initial agenda for the meeting with possible items including:

1.       Door prizes for paying members: Randy agreed to solicit from local businesses

2.       Environmental report from Jim

3.       Treasury report from Tim

4.       Officer introductions and appointments

5.       Request for volunteer to host National Night Out on August 1, 2023

o        Due to extremely high lake levels, Irene will post “No Wake” signs at Eaglewood Road entrance and at public lake access (“access”)

o        Irene will contact DNR about re-measuring the outlet level of Long Lake

o        3rd parking sign has yet to be installed at access; LCLA purchased the sign but Township in need of post to install sign; approved $25 payment to Lynden Township for the post

o        Irene shared copies of the DNR’s large bass survey conducted May 24,2023; results to be discussed at annual meeting

o        Township has indicated that a new dry fire hydrant to be installed near Long Lake; this may include re-paving of Eaglewood Road from County Road 44 to the access; additional information may be provided at annual meeting

o        Irene will produce a summer newsletter; contact her if any relevant content to share

o        Discussion held on joining the MN Lakes and Rivers lake association (a lake association for lake associations); founded in 1993, their mission includes a focus on aquatic invasions and lake pollution; members tentatively agreed to join but Tim will look into the fees and benefits for LCLA to assist in decision to join
